I’ve had the chance to explore Hungry Caterpillar Play School with my little one, and I must say, it’s a well-rounded educational app that truly stands out. It covers a variety of essential skills such as math, spelling, reading, writing, problem-solving, science, and even creative arts, all while keeping things fun and engaging for kids.
What I found most helpful is the app’s ability to switch between UK and US spelling, making it flexible for different learning environments. As a parent, I love the idea of my child learning in a way that aligns with their local standards, but also being exposed to variations from around the world.
The app is based on solid early learning principles and is continually updated with the latest educational practices. I appreciate that the activities focus on meaningful play, which is an effective way to help children retain what they learn. There’s something about letting kids explore and discover through play that makes learning stick.
In terms of mathematics, the app guides kids through important foundational concepts. I was pleasantly surprised by how they keep it fresh each time—my child never feels like they’re repeating the same activity, even though repetition is key for learning.
The language and literacy section is another strong point. My child is beginning to recognize letters and sound them out, and the app’s phonics-based approach really helps. I also love the library of “Learn to Read” books. These books are structured in a way that allows children to progress at their own pace, starting with wordless books that build confidence before advancing to more complex reading.
The science and nature section is a favorite in our house. The Caterpillar’s Garden activity introduces my child to how nature works, and the Learn About the World books offer engaging non-fiction content that is age-appropriate. The voiceover narration is warm and friendly, making it easy for my child to follow along even when I’m not able to read to them myself.
The creative arts section offers plenty of opportunities for self-expression, which is a nice break from the more structured learning activities. My child loves coloring and creating their own art pieces. There are also songs and videos integrated throughout the app, which I think is a great touch—music really does make learning fun and helps reinforce new ideas.
Finally, the puzzles and reasoning activities are perfect for developing problem-solving skills. I can see how these challenges are helping my child think more critically, and it’s wonderful to watch their confidence grow as they solve each puzzle.
In short, Hungry Caterpillar Play School offers a balanced mix of fun and education that both parents and kids can enjoy. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into making sure children develop key skills while also keeping them entertained. Whether it’s math, reading, science, or creative play, this app covers it all in a way that feels natural and enjoyable for kids. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a comprehensive educational tool for young learners!
Parent review
This two yr old loves it. It has a lot of great learning content and with pass, it’s all open. There are simple, sweet sounding songs that littles can actually sing along with. Letters and their sounds. Numbers and quantity. Size comparison. Pattern recognition. There’s a lot! You won’t feel guilty letting your child use this app, there’s so much they learn while using it.
